- Wool identified before any water: it is cleaned at a lower temperature and pH
- Colour-fastness tested first, because a dye that runs on wool cannot be undone
- Air movers on every job, and we tell you honestly if your carpet is slow to dry
Wool, damp, and why drying time matters most here
The North Shore is the wettest part of Metro Vancouver and has the highest proportion of older homes with wool carpet and wool area rugs. Both facts point the same way: wool holds far more water than synthetic, the air here is already damp, and a carpet that stays wet too long grows mildew from the backing up. Drying is the part of the job that matters most on this side of the water, and it is where a rental machine or a cheap operator does real damage.

Four stages, and why each one matters
“Carpet shampooing” is the name on our rate card, and it refers to the pre-treatment stage of this process.
Dry soil removal
A commercial vacuum pass first. Up to 80% of what is in a carpet is dry grit, and wetting it before removing it turns it into mud.
Pre-treatment
The shampooing stage. A low-residue solution is applied and left to dwell so it breaks the bond between the soil and the fibre.
Hot-water extraction
Very hot water injected under pressure and vacuumed straight back out, carrying the loosened soil and the solution with it.
Grooming and drying
The pile is groomed so it dries standing up, and air movers go in. Four to six hours in most homes.
Carpet cleaning prices in North Vancouver
Carpet shampooing is $42 per hour, per technician — not priced by room or by square foot, so you can check the arithmetic yourself.
| Job | Team and time | Total |
|---|---|---|
| Two rooms and a hallway | 3 h | $126 |
| Whole house, carpet and stairs | 6 h | $252 |
Booking carpet cleaning together with a move-out or a deep clean is usually cheaper than two separate visits, because the team is already on site. See how every service is priced
What you are actually paying for
Truck-grade suction
The difference between us and a rental machine is how much water comes back out. More extraction means faster drying and no mildew risk in a damp climate.
Low-residue, pet-safe
Residue is what pulls dirt straight back to the surface. We extract the solution out instead of letting it dry in the fibre.
The price does not move
Send us the rooms and we come back with a fixed number the same day. Nothing is re-priced once the hoses are already in your hallway.
Fully insured
A dye that runs or a shrunk rug is expensive. We test first, and if something does go wrong you are covered.
A dated invoice
Naming the service and the address, which is exactly what a property manager or a carpet warranty claim asks for.
24-hour re-clean
If a mark comes back as the carpet dries, tell us within a day and we return. Wicking happens, and fixing it is part of the job.

Carpet cleaning in North Vancouver: your questions
How long does carpet take to dry on the North Shore?
Four to six hours in most homes, and you can walk on it in socks almost straight away. Here it runs at the slower end more often than elsewhere: the air is damper, and wool holds far more water than synthetic. A dense wool carpet in a cold suite with no airflow can take eight. We bring air movers, open what can safely be opened, and tell you before we start if your particular carpet is going to be slow.
Can you clean wool carpets and wool rugs?
Yes, and the method changes. Wool is cleaned at a lower temperature and a neutral pH, because heat and alkaline products felt the fibre and that cannot be reversed. Colour-fastness is tested in a hidden area before any water touches the rug. Fringes are cleaned by hand, never by machine. If a rug is too delicate to clean in place we take it off-site rather than risk it.
Do you serve West Vancouver and Deep Cove?
Yes. We cover the City and District of North Vancouver, West Vancouver, and everything from Lower Lonsdale through Lynn Valley, Edgemont, Capilano, Seymour and Deep Cove, plus Ambleside, Dundarave and the British Properties. Hillside access and narrow lanes are our problem, not a surcharge.
Is hot-water extraction the same as steam cleaning?
In practice people use the words for the same thing, and it is what we do. Strictly speaking it is not steam: it is very hot water injected under pressure and vacuumed straight back out. True steam would risk shrinking natural fibres. “Carpet shampooing”, which is the name on our rate card, refers to the pre-treatment stage of the same process.
Do you move the furniture?
We move what two people can lift safely — sofas, chairs, coffee tables — and clean underneath. We do not move beds, pianos, full bookcases or anything on a granite top. Clearing small items off the floor before we arrive is the one thing that makes the visit shorter, and at an hourly rate that is money back in your pocket.
